A-Type Barahona Organic, Dominican Replublic

Best characteristics are its low acidity and rich and full taste, I can only describe this coffee as fantastic. In fact it made me think of Jamaican Blue Mountain, and on researching about it, found that the Japanese are mad for it – similar case scenario with Blue Mountain which resulted in them pushing the market price so high in the 80’s it has become unaffordable to most people!

Barahona is the name given to coffee grown in the south western region of the island.

This coffee is an environmental success story. In 2002, several organizations and private benefactors associated with hundreds of the farming families undertook drastic changes in their farming methods and ethics. As a result of these practices the coffee from this area is now certified organic and fair-trade, fetching a much higher price for the farming .
